Duckbill's
Agility Platform tool belts are ergonomically
sound. They've been engineered to meet the weight distribution
and comfort needs of users who carry various tools, devices
and instruments from keys to hand tools to meters to communications
gear and who require frequent and easy access to the tools
they carry. Typically these users carry 6 to 12 lbs of gear
for 4 to 12 hours each day.
The
Duckbill Agility Platform was first
developed while solving the chronic back pain experienced
by police officers and other public safety professionals
who are regularly carry 11.5 lbs of customized task-specific
gear. The Agility Platform now modified to
meet the needs of custodial and facility maintenance professionals
in institutional, commercial, industrial and educational
environments where a professional look is important but
an ostentatious look won't do.
The
Agility Platform incorporates an inner belt
laced through ordinary belt loops together with an outer
utility belt. The inner and outer belts are equipped with
opposingVelcro® surfaces. Each individual hand tool,
device and instrument module integrates an overlapping double
clamshell docking design and is, itself, equipped with mating
Velcro®. The selected module, regardless of its weight
or design won't move or slide on the Agility belt until
the user repositions or interchanges it for another. Any
of the unique tool and task-specific modules can be used
with any ordinary belt. But the modules will not be properly
docked and they'll soon migrate to the lowest point on the
waist. The lowest point is ordinarily the front. The excess
weight in front causes the spine to hyperextend. The lower
back pain problem remains unsolved.
The
Agility Platform MaxCon (Maximum Points
of Contact) system modularizes the weight and allows it
to be distributed comfortably around the circumference of
the waist. This approach keeps the modules in position,
in balance and in reach. This approach keeps the user comfortable,
alert, properly equipped and productive throughout the workday.
The Agility
Platform incorporates the horizontal elements
of Duckbill's SPMM
(Single Platform: Many Modules) system. The SPMM
concept supports an array of over 70 unique task, tool,
device and instrument-specific modules in both the horizontal
(belt) and the vertical (suspender) planes. The holster
modules are positioned (or repositioned if preferences change)
by the user (for comfort and ease of access) and docked
(for as long as preferred or necessary) anywhere on his
or her SPMM rig. Ergonomic comfort and optimum
carrying control and flexibility are the result. Productivity
is improved. Absences and health care costs from lower back
pain complaints are reduced. Chronic fatigue is replaced
with creativity and alertness.
